The Parents Association and The Parents Council

The school community consists of students, staff, parents and board of management.

Parents Association Explained

Every parent or guardian of a child attending Confey College is a member of the Parents Association.

Parents’ Council Explained

They are the smaller group of parents who volunteer to join the Parents Council and who meet once a month to conduct the affairs of the Parents Association. So they represent every parent. There’s usually around 20 to 25 in the group. They are responsible for improving the school from a student/parent perspective. The Council is the structure through which parents in our school can work together with the school for the best possible education for their children. The Parents’ Council works with the principal, staff and board of management to build an effective partnership of home and school. It facilitates the school in obtaining the parents’ perspective on the education of their children and facilitates the parents in obtaining the school’s perspective on educational issues. Membership of the parents’ association is open to all parents/guardians of students in the school.

I’d love to join but I don’t have a huge amount of time to give…

When you join the Parents Council you can give as little or as much of your time as you wish. The minimum requirement would be to attend the meetings once a month and participate in the wonderful discussions that take place. After that, we would regularly form Sub-committees to manage various projects, so these people would meet more often. And, don’t forget, all this only happens while the school is open from September until June.

So how do I join, you might ask?

All you have to do is come along to our AGM (Annual General Meeting) in October and declare your interest…..its as simple as that. You then attend our first meeting after that and just roll with it! It’s easy. Really. And, you’ll have fun and meet a great bunch of people.

How else could I help if I just can’t commit to joining the Parents Council?

The Parents Council holds a list of people just like you who we call our “Helpers”, people willing to give up a couple of hours here and there. Just let us know who you are by emailing and we’ll add you to that list. You’ll only get a call if, say, we need help with supervising at a Bag Pack, or maybe selling a few tickets for an event, being a Reader for mock exams, that type of thing.
