What is the Parents’ Council?

Every year about 20 to 25 parents volunteer to join the Parents’ Council . We meet once a month, at least, and are kept up to date with all of the latest information and activities happening in the school. The wonderful sports achievements, the work of the Students’ Council, the latest news and events taking place in and outside of the school. We are consulted often by the school management on decision making regarding new systems being introduced like for example, ePortal, Guidance and Counselling lobbying, the lunch pass – to name but a few. We are in communication with the National Parents Council sharing information on all sorts of topics. So we are privy to alot of information just for volunteering, but we understand that not everyone can give of their time, but still may be interested enough to know what is going on.

Who are the Council for this year?

A new Council is elected every year at our Annual General Meeting (AGM) which takes place in the school in October. An Executive Committee is then voted in consisting of a Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer plus Assistant Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer. The Parent Nominees from the Board of Management and the Principal and Deputy Principal also attend our meetings.

Some parents like to remain on the council from year to year, which is great. So long as you have a child in the school you are entitled to do this.
